What we collect
When you sign in with Google we receive and store your name, email address, profile picture and Google account ID. We request only the openid, email and profile scopes.
We also store what you create in Giftmates: your handle, your wishlist items (names, links and notes), your friendships, the gift groups you belong to, and the gifts you have marked as "I'm buying this".
How it is used and shown
- Your name and handle are visible to signed-in users who find your handle, your friends and the members of your groups.
- Your wishlist is visible to your friends, to members of any group you share with them, and to any signed-in user if you turn on "public wishlist".
- People see that an item is claimed only if they share a group with you. You never see claims on your own items. Whoever claims an item is shown by name only to people who share a group with them.
- We do not sell your data, show ads, or use it for anything beyond running the service.
Cookies
We use a single essential session cookie to keep you signed in, plus a short-lived cookie during sign-in to protect against forgery. We do not use analytics or advertising cookies.
Where data is stored
Giftmates runs on Cloudflare (Workers and D1 database). Cloudflare processes data on our behalf and may also log request metadata such as IP addresses for operating and securing the service.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account at any time in Settings. This permanently removes your profile, wishlist, friendships, group memberships, the groups you administer, and every claim you made or that was made on your items. Backups may persist for a limited time before expiring.
